When the original Steiff "Harlequin" bear, which was believed to be an un-produced prototype, was offered for sale more than a decade ago at a famous auction house, the world gasped when the Teddy bear sold for just under $75,000. The bear was distinguished not only for its price, but because of its unique design: a red, blue, and yellow harlequin pattern. Now, this famous Teddy bear is returning as a part of the eco-friendly Steiff "Teddies for tomorrow" collection. He’s sewn from paper plush, has alcantara (simulated suede) paw pads, and is stuffed with corn fiber. Like the original on which he is based, the 2023 version is truly unique in every way.
