Snoopy has appeared in many guises through the decades, and one of the most beloved is as a Beagle Scout (a pun on “Eagle Scout,” the highest rank for members in the Boy Scouts of America). Interestingly, before this version of Snoopy appeared in the comic strip, a Scout Troop from Erie, Pennsylvania (USA), wrote Charles Schultz, Snoopy’s creator, asking him for permission to use Snoopy as the mascot for their chapter of the organization. Mr. Schultz agreed, and “Beagle Scout” Snoopy made his debut in newspapers on May 14, 1974. Our rendition of this favorite character depicts Snoopy in uniform, ready to lead his troop into the wilderness for a day of adventurous exploration.
