Richard Steiff invented the Teddy bear in 1902. Enriching the design year by year until 1905 when he created the “perfect” Teddy bear. Made in grey with a soft, friendly face and innovative disc joints, a method so successful that it is still used today. This original 1905 grey bear lives in the Steiff Museum. Richard’s perfected Teddy bear is delighted to be part of a range of iconic characters using alternative materials. He wears the 1897 company logo chest tag.
